 Spooky walks, farm festivals, pumpkin picking, carving, and painting the pumpkins with the children have been fabulous for creating memories and passing down traditions. Many Long Island restaurants and bars are offering special Halloween spirits and brews, hauntingly delicious dinners, and an atmosphere filled with everything Halloween.  Haunted House of Hamburgers, Farmingdale 

The Haunted House of Hamburgers is the only year-round Halloween-themed restaurant on Long Island. Their “Spooktacular Vampire Bar” has Crypt Keeper Cocktail Makers who are ready to satisfy thirsty guests with original drinks. Sundown salads, cauldron soups, flatbread “ripizzas”, haunted hamburgers, psycho sides, and “scared to the boneless wings” are some of the delicious foods available.  The Witches Brew Coffee House, West Hempstead 

Owned by two sisters, The Witches Brew Coffee House is an Italian-American café offering a unique dining experience. It has indoor and outdoor seating with an ambiance described as cozy and spooky with Halloween themes. The diverse menu features salads, sandwiches, gnocchi with a choice of creamy pesto or tomato sauce, vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free entrees. This cash-only business does not take reservations. Katie’s of Smithtown, Smithtown 

Katie’s of Smithtown is a really happening place, in more ways than one. Owned and operated by musicians and artists, this refined bar has two floors, an outside patio, live music, karaoke, open mic nights, a great vibe, and a friendly staff. Outside food is permitted. No reservations are needed. But that’s not all! Katie’s bar is haunted. Patrons and staff have witnessed ghostly activities. The bar’s high level of spectral activity has been featured on popular paranormal television shows. Andrea Peponakis is a retired foreign language teacher who then became a local newspaper journalist and local radio show host. Born and raised in Astoria, Queens and on Long Island, Andrea is now focusing on writing children’s books. The motivation to become an author was inspired by her three grandchildren. Her book, Grandma, Grandma, Tell Me More: My Family Loves Me, was featured at this year’s London Book Festival and at The LA Times Book Fair. Andrea currently resides on Long Island near her children and grandchildren. Her days are spent creating everlasting memories with her grandchildren and writing.
