This Independence Day, Long Island is all set to dazzle with patriotic festivities across the region. From Montauk to Mineola, towns, and villages are gearing up for spectacular fireworks displays that will light up the night sky and set our hearts afire with patriotic passion. Many communities are planning parades, concerts, and family-friendly activities throughout the day. Local parks and beaches will be bustling with barbecues and picnics, while historic sites offer special presentations highlighting our nation’s history. Whether you prefer well-attended celebrations or a quiet reflection on freedom, Long Island provides the perfect backdrop for your Fourth of July festivities.

Jones Beach Fireworks

This is the big, well-attended one! This fireworks extravaganza takes place at Jones Beach on July 4th with fireworks over the Atlantic Ocean beginning at 9:30. This stunning visual performance will be synchronized to a curated playlist of patriotic anthems and American classics, creating an immersive audiovisual experience. The $10 parking fee includes the spectacular show. I strongly suggest arriving early, carpooling, or using public transportation as the parking lot fills up early.  The Chicklets and Fireworks

Long Island Community Hospital Amphitheater at Bald Hill in Farmingville is hosting a free concert by The Chiclettes, a high-energy tribute to female artists band, on July 4th at 5:30 PM. The event will conclude with a pyrotechnic performance, beginning at 9:15, by the renowned Grucci family. This family-friendly event will have a food court offering a variety of items for purchase. Stars Over Montauk

 

July 4th is not over until you spend it at The End, Montauk, at least once. Spending Independence Day there offers an incredible experience for you and your family. Spend the day at one of the breathtaking beaches, visit the lighthouse, and then head over to Umbrella Beach for the annual, breathtaking “Stars Over Montauk” Grucci fireworks display which begins at 9:00 PM.  GET THE DETAILS.

Is there anything that embodies the American spirit more than celebrating the Fourth of July while watching a baseball game? It’s a grand slam of patriotism! Our very own Long Island Ducks is offering a buy one ticket get one ticket free on July 4th with a postgame fireworks display. All fans in attendance get to cheer on the LI Ducks during the game and then cheer for our country’s freedom while the night sky above Fairfield Properties Ballpark in Central Islip illuminates with firework displays honoring the red, white, and blue.  GET THE DETAILS.

 

Andrea Peponakis

Andrea Peponakis is a retired foreign language teacher who then became a local newspaper journalist and local radio show host. Born and raised in Astoria, Queens and on Long Island, Andrea is now focusing on writing children’s books. The motivation to become an author was inspired by her three grandchildren. Her book, Grandma, Grandma, Tell Me More: My Family Loves Me, was featured at this year’s London Book Festival and at The LA Times Book Fair. Andrea currently resides on Long Island near her children and grandchildren. Her days are spent creating everlasting memories with her grandchildren and writing.
