Spotlight On Long Island: Local Farms and Farmers

Beyond its celebrated coastline, Long Island harbors a thriving agricultural community. As locals and visitors enjoy the many activities Long Island offers, local farmers work tirelessly to cultivate a steady stream of fresh produce that deserves equal recognition and respect for their labor. Many restauranteurs purchase products from these farmers making it a farm-to-table dining experience. You can also bring a farm-to-table family dinner experience into your kitchen by directly buying fresh, quality, locally grown produce from the numerous, vibrant Farmers’ Markets located throughout the towns in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Visiting a farmers’ market is not only a great way to spend your morning, but also a great way to directly support our farmers, enabling them to keep supplying us with top-quality produce, and preserving our farmlands for future generations.
