Sunsets Made Even Sweeter at The Sunset
The Sunset Restaurant is a winner! And not just because the Open Table diners rated The Sunset as one of the best restaurants in January 2014 and was named an Open Table Diners’ Choice restaurant. But because this tomato says so! Tee hee! I know… I know I’m not an official restaurant critic or foodie but I just dined there for the first time and loved it and found it to be extra special. As I said, we have a lot of ocean side restaurants but because of the varying angles of our coastline you don’t always get a view of the sunset.
The Sunset Restaurant is located on a beautiful stretch of Zuma Beach in Malibu that does indeed have a remarkable view of the sunset. So you can have your cake and eat it too, tomatoes. Delish sunset and delish food at The Sunset. It all comes together perfectly there.
Even on a Monday night at 6:30PM The Sunset Restaurant was very busy. I wonder why? The sunset and the food perhaps? The restaurant has it’s own parking lot which makes things so convenient. But if it is packed there is always the beach parking which is plentiful. Though the menu can get up there in price and seafood is it’s specialty, there is a wide range of enticing selections to fit your budget and your taste buds as well. Plus, if you are a vegan or need gluten free all you have to do is ask and you will find they have options other than salads.
The Sunset has vast windows and every table has a view, but I recommend getting there even earlier than we did to get a table by the window or a primo seat on one of their lush banquette’s by the windows in the bar. Of course, reservations requesting a window seat should do the trick. The décor is tastefully quaint, of course, but classy and elegant at the same time. No need to dress to the nines, though, because the atmosphere is welcoming, relaxed and comfortable so it is perfect for a pre or post beach visit or get together. All in all the food is terrific!
I had the Sole special that night which was cooked to perfection and so light and tasty I couldn’t believe it. The visitors we brought were absolutely thrilled with their meals and apparently the Seafood Risotto and the Fish Tacos were out of this world. AND for desert I suggest ordering the flourless chocolate torte. I may not be an official food critic but I am an expert when it comes to chocolate and deserts and this was one of the best I’ve ever had. Sorry hubby but it was almost as good as sex. At least I said almost.
