Tart
Who you calling a tart?! Let me set the record straight. I am not a tart, I’m a tomato who loves TART , the restaurant in mid-city Los Angeles specializing in good ole American comfort food with a southern/soul and hip twist. Their motto… “Cookin’ is the oldest profession”.
Tart is fun, quirky, unique with old-fashioned charm and down home hospitality rolled in to one modern truly LA experience unlike any other. The Truffle Mac and Cheese and Crispy Fried Brussels Sprouts are to die for. I bring a lot of visiting friends and family here that hail from the heart of our country, foodie experts when it comes to the ultimate in American food, and they relish every bite while loving the special vibe of Tart. Trust me tomatoes… if you have a hankerin’ for comfort food TART is THE place.
Tart has a new exciting spin on traditional food and it works. Hey I’m from Kansas tomatoes and I know comfort food because I’ve had it from the best, meaning my aunts and my Grandmas in Kansas. But Tart gives them a run for their money. How do these divine choices sound? Buttermilk Fried Chicken and waffles with maple butter or Burrata on toast with Grilled Artichokes, Grapes and Balsamic, or the Tart Burger with blue cheese bacon, caramelized onions and mustard aioli…are your mouths watering yet? I find it impossible to resist their Chocolate-Banana Bread Pudding with nutella, banana brulee and marshmallow ice cream sound. Oh my! The ordering is similar to ordering from a Chinese Menu in that you get a choice of one protein and 3 sides or they have a gratifying mix and match system or a share with others deal going with certain items. Clever and it makes sense.
I highly recommend the outdoor patio seating. The décor is just brilliant to me. Fresh Modern Cute. I appreciate cute when it is done well. The patio portion of the restaurant includes a pool and if you jump in to the pool with your clothes on you get half off your meal. Say what? A pool? Well this restaurant is attached to a unique boutique hotel called “The Farmers Daughter” Boutique Hotel. Ergo the pool. And if you feel like shopping after you can hop across the street to “The Grove”. TART is delicious, inviting and relaxing with a perfect California atmosphere. Go for it tomatoes!
