The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart

I did not read the novel of the same name, The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, but, in my opinion, the execution of the novel’s story as a series, now on Amazon Prime, stands on its own beautifully. Without overt sentimentality or preachiness, the series weaves the important issue of domestic abuse throughout the story. It is stunningly and creatively articulated, deeply moving, and the vision fully realized.

My first reaction upon finishing the final episode was a huge sigh of satisfaction and the word “Magnificent!” The journey of these courageous and flawed women and their community is painful but at the same time poignant in its layers of struggle, truth, discovery and female empowerment. The female performances will simply take your breath away and it is the role of a lifetime for Sigourney Weaver who is utterly brilliant.  But then, again, it is just my humble opinion, Tomatoes.
