Wine Tasting on the Hudson
I am a big fan of wines from underrated regions of the world.
While I am very familiar with and truly enjoy Italian wines, when tasked with buying some bottles, I may gravitate toward those from Lebanon, Georgia (not the state), South America and Portugal.
Ah, Portugal! Just six months ago, I was in that beautiful country for a job. On my first evening in the gorgeous Algarve region, I was exhausted and happy to have a night to myself to enjoy dinner.
I chose a vegetable, fish, and salad, topped off by a couple of glasses of Portuguese wine. It was a blissful evening, as I sat at sunset gazing at the vibrant blue sea, sipping a glass of vinho verde. It was just a perfect way to spend my first evening in Portugal.
So, recently I was delighted to learn that there will be a Wines of Portugal Tasting event at City Winery here in New York on April 5.
The tasting will feature wines from 25 different producers as well as Portuguese hors d’oeuvres and live entertainment.
Tickets are $25. City Winery is located just south of the High Line on 11th Ave and 15th Street, right there on the river.
It may not be the Algarve, but enjoying a glass (or two) of Portuguese wine overlooking the Hudson, is pretty damn good too.
