About the vineyards

Pellegrini

pellegrini-vineyards

Bob and Joyce Pellegrini were one of the original pioneers in the Long Island wine community. After partnering in a small vineyard in the 80’s, they quickly realized the potential of the North Fork region. In 1991, the Pellegrini’s purchased their own vineyard and built a 14,000 square foot winery complex that was one of the very first wineries that integrated the entire winemaking process.  You’ll love the architecturally beautiful tasting rooms, and the beautiful Italian style courtyard.  We’ll enjoy their award winning wines and have our picnic lunch there in style.

Castello di Borghese.

castelloThe first vineyard on Long Island took root in 1973 with the radical vision of Alex and Louisa Hargrave, who pioneered the wine industry on Long Island. In 1999 the vineyard was renamed – Castle of the Borgheses. Marco and Ann Marie brought dedication to their new life’s work, and produced vintage after vintage of award-winning wines. The 2013 season marked the 40th anniversary of the founding vineyard of Long Island. In 2014, their children took over operations and proudly continue the legacy of producing superb, sophisticated wines. Winners of numerous international awards, Castello di Borghese Vineyard has earned widespread recognition and grows some of the world’s best French grape varietals.

Baiting Hollow Vineyards

And back by popular demand is the last vineyard on our tour, Baiting Hollow.  This is a tomato favorite every year, with its wonderful wines, live music, and the horse rescue farm.  Their Mirage & Riesling are 2013 New York State Commercial Wine Gold Medal Winners!  You can enjoy a tour to meet and hear the amazing stories about the beautiful horses. The profits from the sale of BHFV’s horse rescue wines, which includes the award winning Mirage, go to support the massive costs for maintaining quality care for these horses as well as Baiting Hollow Farm Horse Rescue, Inc.’s ongoing rescue efforts.
