Wraps and Holiday Casual

LA Style: It’s a Wrap!

When there’s a chill in the air, I love bundling up from head to toe in my soft cozy knits. I’m keeping it simple with only a few pieces that together pack a punch! I’m using a monochromatic palette of beige tones which can have the tendency of looking flat. To avoid this, I’m choosing items with a lot of texture and dimension like this dress, Day Fashion, with its oversized cable and rib knit. My beanie, Urban Outfitters, though lighter in colour also has the same knit pattern so there is consistency amongst my pieces.

For an additional textural element, I’m using a large woven scarf that has a frayed edge, Zara. We know that consistency and balance is everything and my beige lug boots, Gisele Tune, bring both. When putting together a monochromatic look it’s important to use different fabrications for dimension – it’s what keeps the eye interested. My items, though few, are pretty lofty in size for a look that feels warm and sumptuous.

*style-tip: be consistent with the size and weight of each of your pieces

LA Style: Holiday Casual

Not all Holiday looks are created equal and mine will get me through the day and into the evening for a Holiday cocktail shopping party. I’m building around my black sequin leggings, Tipsyelves. They’re not only festive they’re easy to get on and off just in case I need to try something on. I’m styling them with an off-white satin blouse, Zara, and a black textured jacket with shiny gold buttons, Zara. I don’t know if you can see but the fabric of my jacket is made with both dull and shiny yarns that create its’ texture. I specifically chose this jacket for today’s look because of it.

Also, the gold horse bit hardware on my funky sock loafer boots, Shein, add an additional gold element. To complete my look, I’m going with simple flat leather handbag, Carla Mancini. Even though I’m using garments from different classifications, I’m able to juxtaposition them into a cohesive stylized look. Shout out to my neighbor whose mid-life crisis made this gorgeous, corvette, available to me.

*style-tip: less is more. just a few well thought out pieces can take you to work and to a Holiday party without any outfit adjustments.

*please treat your wardrobe well. many people worked very hard to get it to you
